Jan & Carol taking the net

Well clearly Tuesday is our best day. 16 pickleball players were at Timmons Park today. The weather was great too......cloudy, cool with a slight breeze that was nice but didn't mess up the game. We started at 8:30.....Bob T., Pete P., Ken and I played the first game. During our game more players were arriving...... Jan, John, Bob S., Johnny, Carol, Bob H., Ron, Sharon, Joanie, Anne, Fred & Sally. Ron brought his camera today and took a lot of the photos that I have posted. Thanks, Ron, for helping me with the picture taking. Fred came back to give the game another try. His tennis background really has helped him take to the game. Hope everyone had a great time today. I know I did and we had some very challenging games.
Right now Friday looks good, weatherwise, for our next pickleball match so I hope to C U on D courts then.......Lynn
P.S. We had so many good photos today with Ron's and my shots combined that I had a really hard time deciding so I probably put too many on the post. Hope I'm not boring anyone.

Fred & Bob T. This is Fred's second day and he was doing great.

Bob T. & Ron

It was a beautiful morning for pickleball. The sun was out and there was a nice breeze that also gave us more challenge with serving and hitting the balls. The courts had puddles on them from last night's thunder storms so Ken, Bob T. and I got there and worked on spreading the puddles out so they would dry up faster. Ralph arrived next while we were warming up hitting some balls back and forth. We got a game going then with the 4 of us. We ended up with 12 pickleball players today......Bob T., Ralph, Lynne S., Joanie, Ron, Sharon, Johnny, Bob H., Claude, Carol, Ken & I. We're losing Lynne S. to Colorado and Ralph to Hilton Head next week. Mike is on his big drive across country headed to San Francisco so we won't see him till August.
Hoping to see everyone (that's not on vacation) back out on the courts on Tuesday.......Lynn

Pickleball Tuesday 7-14-09

Bob S. & Jan going for the ball

We had some rain yesterday morning.....bad enough that Ken and I had to clean up some puddles this morning. Fortunately it didn't rain anymore after yesterday morning. Wasn't too bad though. Bob T. arrived and then came Steve so we had a foursome for a game. We had 15 pickleball players today......Bob T., Steve, Ralph, Pete P., Jan, Joanie, Anne, John, Carol, Johnny, Bob H., Bob S., Fred, Ken & I. It was Fred's first time to try pickleball. He and his wife, Lois, came kind of late in the session to watch at first and determine if he wanted to try it. Fred is a tennis player in our tennis group. He played a game with John, Anne and me and did pretty well. It's just a matter of getting use to how the ball bounces. It's not like the tennis ball. Fred was really going after the balls though and made some nice shots. We hope to play again on Friday and I hope to C U on D Courts then......Lynn

Pickleball Friday 7-10-09

Ron, Carol, Lynne S. & Ken

It was cloudy this morning and it made a nice time for pickleball. The sun hardly came out the whole time we played. There were 13 pickleball players today......Bob T., Steve, Pete P., Ralph, Lynne S., Ron, Sharon, Joanie, Johnny, Carol, Anne, Ken & I. It was great to have Ron and Sharon back from CT. The firemen were in the park doing an orienteering event and watching us play. I think they would have rather been playing our game instead of theirs. Steve played hooky from work and joined us. Nice to see him back out on the court. He might be wiseing up. Hopefully we can get in 2 days of pickleball next week. Tuesday looks ok for now so hope we can all get together again then. C U on D Courts!!! Lynn Anne & Ron

Names on Paddles

Could everyone make sure their name is on their paddle to help speed up getting players into the games when we have a large group. We're going to continue using the procedure of having the winners of a game stay in and split up but you can only play 2 games in a row. When we have a large group we think it is helpful to line up the paddles along the fence from left to right. The paddle on the left goes in next. So players coming out of a game please place your paddle in the line to the right.
Thanks, Lynn & Ken

Sally & Bob H.

We had rain last night so Ken and I got to the courts this morning and starting cleaning up the puddles. Wasn't too bad. Bob T. arrived and helped too. Lynne S. came early to walk Bridgette the dog so once the courts were ready for play the 4 of us started a game. There were 15 pickleball players today and a granddaughter........Lynne S., Bob T., Pete P., Sally, Carol, Johnny, Ralph, Mike, Bob H., Bob S., Joanie and granddaughter, Anne, Jan, Ken & I. Sally is Pete P.'s wife and she came to try pickleball today. She did pretty well and seemed to enjoy it. Mike hasn't left town yet so he was able to come and play one more time before the big trip cross country. We're looking forward to having Ron and Sharon back on Friday. Hope to play on Friday again. C U on D Courts!!!! Lynn

Pickleball Friday 7-3-09

Bob H. stretching it out

I think we all had a great time at pickleball today. At least I hope so. I sure did. There were 9 pickleball players today. We didn't have the crowd that we've been having but we surely had an adequate number of players. Some of us played for 4 hours and Mike was trying to talk us into playing more but we were too hungry. It was 20 minutes to 1:00 by that time and we started playing about 8:35am. Present were Steve, Ralph, Lynne S., Johnny, Mike, Joanie, Bob H., Ken and I. It was nice to see Steve back. That was a real surprise to see him drive up. One day he'll figure out his priorities and ditch that job and come back to pickleball on a regular basis. Lynne S. brought watermelon and we really enjoyed that. Thanks Lynne! A nice treat!
We'll be losing Mike next week for a month. He might get to play with us on Tuesday though before he hits the road. Hoping to play next on Tuesday again. Have a great 4th of July and weekend.......Lynn........and be ready for more pickleball next week!!
